The Euphoria Verse is a large, interconnected fictional universe with multiple storylines, recurring characters and long-term narrative arcs. Creating that experience requires careful planning, consistent world-building and time for refinement.
One of my core creative principles is that every story should stand confidently on its own. Modern franchises sometimes fall into the trap of making every film, episode or book feel like an advertisement for the next one. Audiences can sense when a story exists primarily to set up future projects.
I want each story to answer its own dramatic question. If readers continue, they gradually discover that these stories exist within a much larger world. Every major character deserves to feel like a real person rather than simply a stepping stone towards another storyline. The larger universe should emerge naturally through those individual experiences.
Rather than rushing publication simply to release content sooner, I have chosen to focus first on building Purgatory Publishing through the Moreland Road publications. This establishes the publishing company, develops sustainable income and provides the time needed to continue refining The Euphoria Verse without unnecessary pressure.
This approach also allows me to develop the editorial process that I believe a shared universe deserves. My aim is to build an editorial room rather than rely solely on isolated writers. Timelines across the walls, discussions about character motivations, challenging ideas, identifying inconsistencies and refining every draft before publication are all part of the process. This collaborative approach has helped many successful long-running television series maintain consistency while allowing ideas to evolve through discussion.
As Purgatory Publishing grows, I will continue refining that editorial process, learning how to work with contributors and developing a consistent production workflow. These are not separate goals from The Euphoria Verse. They are part of building the foundation it will ultimately stand upon.
When The Euphoria Verse begins publication, it will do so because it is ready, not because of an arbitrary deadline.
