THE ORIGIN STORY

I have been a fan of the Predator franchise ever since I wore out my video tape recording of the first movie, Predator. I was only four years old during its 1987 theatrical release, so I was likely still only ten when my father or I hit record when it was repeated on television in 1993.

The movie had everything necessary to draw in a ten year old. A team of elite mercenaries, ‘the best of the best’ slowly being hunted for sport. This unknown stalker was patient, possessed hi-tech weaponry and the never seen before iconic cloaking ability. This hunter ticked all the boxes for the worthy adversary for the perfectly cast Arnold Schwarzenegger and his team of expendable assets.

The fan favourite, feel good chopper scene cutting through the sky along to the legendary ‘Long Tall Sally’ blew my young mind and rocked my world. Simply the essence of ‘Cool’ to the boy off from school with growing pains. Which was very often for a couple of years. I was compelled to watch Predator while home alone and confined to the sitting position.

THE EVOLUTION

Predator 2 was also available around that time and I consumed that often too. It felt a little more adult to me at the time, the gang scenes weren’t as child friendly as a clearly fictional hunt in the jungle.

Setting the second movie in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles was a stroke of genius. The subway scene, the slaughterhouse showdown and the acrophobic Harrigan giving chase from one urban apartment block to the next, are all wonderful set pieces.

But when the movie ‘Predators’ came along in 2010, the premise blew my mind. I knew then I had to write a Predator story. The directions this universe could go in are endless. A new premise and a diverse variety of characters, brings a seeming infinite array of predicaments to my imagination. Writing stories using this unique IP is a pure joy.

As you will see from the forthcoming stories set in The Euphoria Verse, I feature characters from all walks of life, who are intertwined, some directly and others indirectly, across a world spanning over a century. I knew there was something similar I could do with a Predator universe, but with something very different to offer from my Euphoria Verse and the current Predator franchise.

THE AEVUM VERSE

With Predator: Shifting Sands and a further three stories to be published throughout Year One, I introduce you to The Aevum Verse. How these stories intersect and have devastating consequences for Year Two, are yours to discover.

Each story within The Aevum Verse will be published over the course of a week, two chapters per day, complete with unique artwork, with each chapter having their own posters, wallpapers and curated soundtrack.
